Fedex weather shipping delay and a wee hole in delivery notification.

Purchased 3 bottles of Talisker Skye from the Whisky Exchange (London). The $79 US delivery charge includes any customs duties. The snow in New England and Memphis complicated shipping. They arrived in NY and cleared customs A-OK by the first carrier and were transferred to FedEx for the rest of the trip. The FedEx plane got delayed 3 hours in NY and arrived late in Memphis. Then Memphis airport shut down for heavy snow and ice. My order got loaded onto the plane bound for Albuquerque in Memphis and then could not take off from the closed airport. The parcel being loaded on the plane must have triggered the automated phone delivery notification here yesterday morning, saying to expect delivery by 8 PM. I checked the FedEx tracking and it did not show actual departure from Memphis. OK, either it's still in Memphis or they missed posting the departure. I checked the Memphis airport site to find out that it is and was closed to traffic until the runways could be cleared. I no longer really expected my parcel but stayed close anyway as this is a signature required item.

The out take is FedEx and maybe other carriers may send delivery info that is a bit optimistic when nature really has the final say.
I am retired so I was only an inconvenience to stay at home for me, but if you work and take a day off for this....

FedEx posted that my parcel departed Memphis this morning.

2:17 PM Update - my parcel is delivered.

Talisker is my house scotch, I love it! It fits my price range and is magic on my tastebuds. Post a pic when it rears its head on your stoop!!!

Like all of Talisker's limited runs, this is still a Talisker. They mixed years and casks to get this unique taste. It is less edgy than Talisker 10 my "go to" with the Highland Parks and seems pretty well rounded. If its like the previous limited runs it should be in the US in a few months. I didn't want to wait. They also put out a "Talisker, Isle of Skye", this is definitely not that one.

TWE's (The Whisky Exchange) write up ($51.25 no VAT): "An easy-drinking Talisker, taking the distillery's classically rugged character and softening it out, while maintaining the smoky and sweet notes the distillery is known for. More approachable, but still definitely Talisker. "

This is like the Lays potato chips " You can't eat just one." Glad I got 3 bottles. One goes to my favorite piper, Aden Kemp (Mac-Tire of Skye Pipes and Drums.)

Talisker Storm is in the US and it went the other way, at cask strength! More of all that Talisker is known for.

Destin, Think of Talisker 10 year with the bold notes less pronounced and a little better balanced. There seems to be more subtle notes in this than the 10 year. Maybe because they aren't drowned out by the big notes. Maybe because it is multi cask. I and now 2 other single malt drinkers really like this.

So a more complex, slightly smoother, Talisker 10 like taste? Does it still have the fresh taste?
