day out in the kilt
So, going to a meet up in public with a group of friends, dare I brave the Cameron of Erracht kilt or play it safe with the khaki tactical kilt?

I think you would do just fine in either.

I prefer a traditional tartan kilt when going out and about.

Though I have two, there is something be said for having only one - don't have to choose (sweet misery it is). Today's weather made it easy; the 16oz tank for the cold autumn air

I only have tartan kilts, so I am at a disadvantage with your choice. I feel you have considered the elements of the evening (ball room dancing compared to bull riding). Wear what works and you'll be fine.

as for this new guy, I like the look of the Tartan kilts... I tried one of the ones with outside pockets and such, I just didn't care for it, and once I got a good sporran, I found the need for pockets to diminish. In a year and a half I have only had one person to ask me what Tartan I was wearing.. so, I could pretty much wear any of them.. lol

i find trouser style pockets on utility kilts rather useful, saves having to rummage around a sporran for loose change

Some years ago I decided to use a change purse or a coin tray. I don't have this issue anymore.
