FINALLY...Jonesing for another one!!
Greetings to my old friends, and new ones too. I've been away from XMARKS for a couple of years, been inactive and haven't been to any Highland games recently, but is that ever going to change. Thanks to Steve Ashton, my Membership has been re-upped and I am anxious to get going once again.
Shortly after Thanksgiving, I located a Kiltmaker who had access to a ancient variant of the modern MacNicol Dress Red. It's the Nicholson 0498 in the STWR database. It is what the Kiltmaker called the "ancient orange" sett, a muted Plaid of the Nicholson/MacNicol red, navy, dark green with an additional Sett in a light blue. Supposedly from a Tartan described by MacIan in 1845-1847 and, I guess, not seen much outside Scotland.
Well, I bit the bullet big time. I discussed getting an 8-yard Kilt, Fly Plaid, Bow Tie and Flashes. They advised me just this morning (afternoon Edinburgh), that it was was on the way via DHL Express. So, here I am Jonesing again, and does it ever feel great.
I'm not much of a selfie machine, but I think I'll have to finally break down and figure out how one of those stick-things works, because I'm anxious for the parcel to arrive and post a picture fofr you folks.
Yikes...that makes four kilts now...Dress Red MacNicol, Modern Hunting, Ancient Hunting in a 4-yard Box Pleat, and the "Ancient Orange". Phew, that about does it for my MacNicol collection! Sure am grateful to my namesake maternal Grandfather, Alexander Nicoll!
Nothing is worn under the kilt...everything works just fine!!

Welcome back!
I work with a guy who just came here to California a couple years ago from Mt Airy NC, Lee Smith. A common name I know, but Mt Airy's a small place. He has family in Cano too.
For those not aware, Mt Airy is famous for at least two things
1) it was fictionalized as "Mayberry" in a very popular and long-running TV show here in the USA
2) it was the home of Chang and Eng, the original "Siamese Twins"

Welcome back to the boards. When I lived in NC (home was High Point for the first 18 yrs) we called the ("stick thing" for selfies), someone else. You just hoped they could take a good picture.
Looking forward to the photo, no matter the quality of pixels or arrangement.
