I had the pleasure of bumping into Tommy MacPherson from time to time -----he lived nearby---- and without a doubt he was one of those quick witted, modest, skilful, unorthodox, lucky and immensely brave soldiers that the British Army seem to find at a time of need.

Some more names off the top of my head, of the same ilk that some here might be interested in reading about.These brave fellows are just some of many that could(should) also be mentioned.

Not forgetting Captain Donald Roy of the Cameron Highlanders (Liverpool Scottish) and No. 2 Commando, 5 Troop. A veteran of the St. Nazaire raid, who got permission from the War Office for his command to wear the kilt as part of their battledress.
