    stress in the workplace

wore the kilt at work ...

we're working on a proposal to outfit a new rural community center with internet connectivity, networking and all that goodness. lots of things to go over and plan. at the end of the day and we all had agreed to the plan. i had one last question to ask...

my boss said "don't stress over it" and i said "i'm not stressed. i'm wearing a kilt. everyone else is stressed."

    not another word was said

    i love it

Another great retort. May I use it? Is this your first time kilted at work?

    Nice come back.

What gets me stressed most of all is people saying I'm stress when I don't feel that way

Well done Ambrose, I really do see working in a kilt as the ultimate challenge (for those who have the freedom to do so of course, some in the police and other government services have difficulty).

I found working in a kilt very stressful at first, I even got one or two headaches (and I never get headaches!!). However, as I confidence grew, I became more relaxed, and now I find as you do Ambrose - a kilt is stress relief!

I spend 2-3 days working on the phone and wearing a kilt is much more comfortable than wearing pants.

    ... david,

yes. this was the first time to wear the kilt at work. matter of fact, the first public appearance in a kilt. fortunately, we have a very lax dress code in my department. as well, the group of guys i work with are all fairly open minded about most things. i received the typical jokes and we all had good laugh, but they understand how important this is for me. they also understand how much i admire and appreciate my Scottish ancestry.

we're up in detroit this weekend baby sitting the grand kids. daughter & son-in-law took off to mackinac island for a weekend. tomorrow we meet them up in Frankenmuth for a bit of a day trip. this will be my first time on the road and in true public eye with a kilt.

    we'll see what happens.
