Scottish Patriotism
As a Scotsman, and patriotic one, I don't often feel there is anyone else in the country that is the same. Is there any other patriotic Scots out there? Or Scotch-Americans/Scotch-Canadians!?

Patrick, what do you mean by patriotic? My definition is you are willing to die to preserve the way of life of the country you were born. I am proud to be of Scottish ancestry, and I am willing (do it every day working for my Government) to sacrifice my life for the USA, but I think its hard to be a Patriotic Scottish-American. Never been to Scotland, so how could I lay my life down for Scotland? That is my humble opinion, you need to define what you mean by patriotic, if your a flag waver, that is not patriotic, if you are will to die for your country, you are patriotic. I am sure the Scottish Military, Law Enforcement, Fire Brigades, Custom Officers, Lifesaving Services, First Responders, Veterans, and many other Scots are Patriotic. People who go to football games wearing all Scottish Team items, start fights with others from other countries, that is not patriotic. See were I am going, I am sure MANY Scots are very Patriotic.

Many Scots that I know could easily find that question insulting.

Just by asking that question, highlights your ignorance.

I am a little confused by the initial question. Is this asking about
A) Scots who are patriotic towards Scotland ?
B) Americans of Scottish decent patriotic towards the United States ?
C) Americans of Scottish decent patriotic towards Scotland ?

There is an old saying that is perhaps apropos here.
From your post - "I don't often feel there is anyone else in the country that is the same."
The saying is -
"If you ever find yourself standing alone with your beliefs, you probably took a wrong turn somewhere."

A young rooster tries his voice at the farm. He is loud and resolute in his song. Old roosters (even the cock of the walk) bellows their call, however, with experience, wisdom and challenge. The rest of the chickens notice and keep pecking away at the corn. All will work itself out in the end and chicken population thrives.
The farmer wonders what all the noise is about.

I consider myself Scottish first and foremost, even though now living in Colorado for 2 years.
I do love my adopted home town and feel a deep connection to both.
As a people, and I know this is a generalisation, us Scots tend to be modest and self-deprecating. This can lead to the impression that we are not as enthusiastic about something as we actually are. However, I think a quick look around the country and its vibrancy in regards to the modern and the traditional shows that we are proud of who we are.

Rephrase your Question, Please
Patrick,
I sense you are trying to reach out and find like-minded folks. It sounds like you’ve looked around XMTS enough to get a sense of what’s here. I would propose that this particular post was just too open-ended not to end up badly. Try something more specific, you’ll have more success.
