Help me find this.
In high school and (part of) college, I had this really amazing military surplus bag that I used to carry my books, laptop, etc....until it was stolen. I'm trying to find another on the intarwebs, but I'm not having much luck. I'm turning to you guys. I know there's a lot of military men and history buffs, so I'm hoping you guys can help. It was all canvas, with one large bag and one smaller one that hid under the flap. The biggest identifying feature was that the flap was about as twice as long as the bag--big enough wrap around the bag. It has straps on the face of the flaps to tie it up.
I haven't even found a photo of it, but I think it was Korea/Vietnam era. If any body has any clue about what I'm talking about, it would be most appreciated. Any info...a name, date range, or whatever.

Try googling ROTHCO, they have a lot of canvas shoulder bags and perhaps a pic of one of theirs may give others the clue as to what you are looking for.
This is the actual address of the page I was looking at

Shoot straight you bastards. Don't make a mess of it. Harry (Breaker) Harbord Morant - Bushveldt Carbineers

Hmmm, not finding it in any of those sites. It looks a bit like this:

except it was olive canvas and the flap was about twice as long.

Greg.
Why not redesign it and get an X Marks "stitcher" to knock it up for you in similar canvas. I'm sure someone could help for a small fee or a bottle of something special.
Err... not me though, unfortunately. Can't sew for toffee.

Why would the flap be twice as long? If it had a specific purpose, you might find it easier...

You might want to give CountyComm a try. They carry alot of different military bags.
