Here's the inside view showing the half-lining, the "cheater" inside belt/buckle set-up on the left side (shhh; don't tell anyone!), and the tape ties on the right-hand side:

Did I sew on those tape ties or did you add them after? I don't remember doing them...

I put them on. They're a blue cotton twill tape that match the blue stripes in the tartan quite closely!

I don't understand what the blue tape is for? I see the inside buckle and strap.
is it for tightning? Or to make the over apron sit right?

On a modern kilt you have a buckle (or two) to fasten the right end of the outer apron up (and keep the kilt on!). Early kilts did not have buckles and straps, but were fastened with pins or ties. The ties on my philabeg fasten the right side, with a tape on the end of the outer apron tying onto a second tape sewn at the right hip - where a buckle on a modern kilt would be....

Ok, I am on the same page now.
I guess in my mind I always imagine the philabeg with the top folded over a belt.
Looks very sharp!

I had that particular length on my special page if I remember right. But we can have Harris Tweed tartan woven to order.

Another member of the forum here has a kilt I made him in Stephenson Hunting tartan, and another on order in the Sinclair tartan.

Not your "average kilt" by any means, but really nice stuff!
