Outfit critique

[Kilted Rogue]

OK here is the shot of wearing said outfit.
I added a blue tie since i had one and it was suggested. I am leaning to the Rabbit sporran, it simplifies the outfit the hair sporran is a bit over the top as one Chirs stated. The wedding is outside and the temp will be close to 53* F tonight, that was why wanted to wear the waistcoat.

Well, since you asked

First off, if you are going to be the only one kilted, I would have you seriously consider wearing a suit, sport coat and tie etc. It's just too hard not to be a peacock when you are the only one kilted, and someone else's wedding is not the place to be a peacock. Friends/brides tend to be very accommodating, I think it's our responsibility to check ourselves in situations like this.

If you insist on wearing the kilt, I would encourage you to be as subtle as possible in you color choices, and choice of accessories. Avoid the red tie, horse hair sporran etc. I'd go with the tweed jacket no waistcoat, blue tie, green hose.

Have a good time regardless of your choice!

Great stuff to work with. I would wear the red tie and the green or black hose with those garters. I think the affair warrants the horsehair sporran. Lets see a full-length photo when you are done! Party!

I think I would go with the red tie - works well with the colour of your face - but, now that I see it on you, I think the waistcoat might not be working. I like the rabbit with the jacket - nice combination there

While I hear this advice on the board very often, " don't wear your kilt you will stand out!" "or " maybe they are just being nice and telling you its ok to wear your kilt" ,or " Try to just blend in with the other guests" It does depend on the bride and groom and how well you know them, and what sort of people they are.

My friends that are getting married tonight are the most fun loving and jovial people i have ever met. If I were to not show up in my kilt, they would look at me and ask why didn't you wear it? I wish to look formal and reserved , yet stylish. I also enjoy wearing my kilt to events that are not Scottish in nature. To me, my kilts are not just for wearing to Highland Games, and Burns Dinners.

One more point and I will be done jacking my own thread. When i got married(at that time i didn't even own a kilt much less have ever worn one) one of my buddies, with out my knowledge or permission wore his kilt to my service. Was i shocked, naaa I knew him well and expected it. did he steal the show. Not on your life! besides he added to my pictures with his flair and panache'.

Now back on the subject of outfit coordination:

I would stay away from the horsehair for this outfit as it might be a bit over the top. Everything else can be combined as you like: any of those colour combos would be fine. If you feel it might be a bit chilly later on, definitely wear the waistcoat.

Missed the part about the temp tonight. The waistcoat seems to be a necessity so, do you have a jacket that will work better with it?

I only have the one jacket. I had planned on buying an Argyle Jacket for the occasion but the stars did not align for that purchase. I think i will go with the red tie as well, I just hope my hose will be dry in 3 hrs

You have a good attitude, and I am glad you are sticking with the red tie for today. When I suggested the blue tie, it was only to point out that you do not always have to wear the same tie with the same shirt and jacket (some people do, which I don't understand, but...). Ties are an easy way to change the look of an outfit. Red is a good color for a celebration!
