Backpacking kilt

How'd I miss this thread? Lots of great info.

My favorite kilt to backpack is the UK Survival II - because I like carrying my water bottles in the cargo pockets - low - easy to reach.

i ran across these, which reminded me of the pics of tobus in leggings. might be another option. "dublin synthetic easy care adult half chaps" at amazon. good reviews from riders, but i do not know how well hikers will like them.

They seem a little tall for wearing with a kilt.

That said, though, I have seen several variations of "half chaps" that would probably work. These are typically leather or synthetic leggings meant for English-style equestrian riding (they usually have additional material on the inside face which would contact the horse). Some are tall like the ones you showed, but some are calf-height, which I think would be better with a kilt.

Ditto Tobus, the leather boot tops would eat the back of your knees alive doing any serious walking in them.
I had some a little shorter (when it was fashion) and even knee high Thorlo boot socks did'nt prevent the chafing behind the knee. OTC high at max.
