Congratulations, Meghan, on your A in African storytelling. I would have loved to take that class! Now that the exams are behind you, take a deep breath, relax and enjoy your break!

Re: Final exams this week.
Congratulations Meghan on the A for Africa.
Best of luck with the Hebrew Studies result but enjoy Christmas Day and try not to worry about it. What's done is done and can't be changed. I know that sounds easy but forty years on I still have nightmares about being about to sit those final exams or waiting on my results.

It was an amazingly enriching class. I have a huge new respect for pre-colonialized African history and post-colonialized African history. The literature that came from that continent is amazing and completely unrepresented.
If anyone is looking for a good book, Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe is amazing. I think most people read it in high school now, but it was my favorite book that Ive read in that class. We spent the first half of the semester reading short stories but heres our novel reading list:
-Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe (pre-Colonialization)
-Houseboy by Ferdinand Oyono (post-Colonialization)
-A Walk In the Night by Alex La Guma (post/ apartheid)
-Woman At Point Zero by Nawal El Sadawi (gender issues/ Middle East)
-Gods Bits of Wood by Sembene Ousmane (class issues/ Post Colonialization)

Re: Final exams this week.
Congratulations on finishing the exams, I know you will do well. Use your break wisely, read for fun, and do some world class goofing off!!!
Here are couple of study tips for the next round of finals to relieve the stress.
Start prepareing for the final exam on the first class of the semester ( or quarter). Sounds a little goofy but, by approaching each class with the end game mind set for the listening and note taking makes the actual finals easier.
Ask lots of questions in class, if there is any doubt about the subject matter, either in reading or lecture, ask for clarification. I have had instructors have to change test materials and their lecture notes because of questions asked.
If you keep your books, this is an easy way to prep for test. Any time the Proff quotes or reads from the text, highlight in yellow. If he gives a reveiw for the test and refers to a passage from the text highlight in blue. This puts the information in the text in priority. Blue and yellow = Green highest , Blue the next highest, and yellow the lowest. All the information is valuable but, alot your study time with the priority.
I have used these methods in test prep and they work. Made Deans List and Presidents list and a 3.73 on my MBA.
Stay calm, and you have already won!!!!

I tell myself that I will do this every single semester and I never ever do. lol.
Those are great tips, though! Im a ridiculously fast typer so I pretty much just bring my laptop to class with me and type along with what the teacher is saying. Makes for good notes
