I did not read the original thread so I had to catch up on what it was about.
Boy, that was as hilarious and surreal as the movie. thanks for the laugh.

So while I think that there are some people out there who aspire to be gentlemen (or at least be thought to be a gentleman), there are a lot more Lebowskis and Sobchaks out there than you'd think.
Obviously, you're not a golfer.

Notice that I didn't compare "Gentleman" vs anything else.
What I DID draw attention to is that "Lebowski" implies an easygoing "The Dude Abides" type attitude.
A page long rant full of of rather derogatory assumptions directed at an individual who did nothing more than say "I consider any undesired touching inappropriate" is being "Very un-Dude-like" and is well into "Walter Sobchak" territory.
My aspirations or opinions of myself don't enter into the equation (along with whatever you might be implying with said statement). What happened in the other thread was unchecked aggression, and a bit of a ****-move.
This goes far beyond "I don't like tweed, I want to wear a t-shirt" or "I don't like G&Ts, I want a beer." That was a line in the sand, and it WAS crossed.

Right, yes, okay, thank you one and all, I have it now, I do understand, although much of what you have been saying has gone way over my head!

What does the statement below even mean?
Like I said before if you like a good comedy, this is a great movie. If comedies aren't your thing then don't. My wife thought it was ridiculously stupid but she doesn't have the same sense of humor as I do but nobodies perfect.

Not all comedies are made equal though. I do enjoy a good comedy, but if it has to rely on toilet humour and profanity to achieve it, it's not my thing.
I enjoy British humour a fair bit... Always been a fan of John Cleese. Also like Stephen Fry (especially with Alan Davies on QI)... Jasper Carrott does some good standup... Oh, and Bill Bailey, Tasmin Greig, and Dylan Moran (who's actually Irish) in Black Books were absolutely hilarious!
