    Problems with my club

I started a club 16 years a ago. Over the summer I agreed with others it was time for a Board of Directors and that we should incorporate the club. I had long ago assigned the title of Vice President to a person important to the operation, and this summer we added 3 additional people. Now this same Board, the one I appointed it first member and he and I selected three additional persons has decided to confront me, and inform me I can not wear a kilt all the time. I have been wearing a kilt daily for 7 or so years. The bylaws for the club are not yet in place, though the articles of incorporation have been filed. I don't want to give up my kilt I am not comfortable in pants any more, and also fell more myself in a kilt. I am in the state of Maryland in the USA.

P.S. The worse part is this is a nudist club! We don't wear anything during events!!!

Weird, of all people you'd think nudists would be more tolerant. Several folks on this board follow that lifestyle and wear kilts to and at resorts. For the life of me I can't figure out why men of that lifestyle haven't flocked to kilts to preserve their FREEDOM when they're not at such a venue. Have encouraged vendors to advertise in The Bulletin or N Magazine. Guessing the first kilt vendor who does will do very very well.

Helped start three clubs back in the 80s...understand the politics of it all...seems weird that such an organization would have ANY bylaws regarding clothing...something new every day...

Far easier for me to say than for you to do, I grant you. If it were me, I would walk through the metaphorical door without saying a word, close it quietly behind me, walk away and don't look back. We have a saying over here which covers your situation: "Never explain and never complain".

I have to agree with Jock.

It is always cruel and unpleasant when this happens, whether it be the cyber world or the physical world. All our sympathy, in the end, will make not one jot of difference.

Turn your back; walk away; start another club. You did it once, you can do it again.

    Good luck with your endeavours.

Why not pop over to the Newbie section and get a proper welcome.

    Regards

    Chas

While I am aware there are "clothing optional" clubs, this is the first time I have heard of a "clothing prohibited" club. Neither of these would be my cup of tea, as I find it much easier and less painful to iron clothes than to iron wrinkles. But to your issue.

I'm with Jock on this one. I would shake the dust of this club off whatever it is that nudists shake dust off of, and find fellowship elsewhere.

Considering that you have been kilted for 7+ years and nothing has been said, I wonder what other "rules" they have lurking in the background? You kicked your baby out the door to grow up when you started the board. It is not uncommon for children to fight parents at the first experience of freedom and it seems that the board is doing the same thing exerting its new found freedom.

I think that you have a hard question to ask yourself, "can I live with this and other actions of the board if I disagree with that action?" If you can, then all that I can see that can be done, is follow the boards direction, if not, I like Jock's "Never explain and never complain" comment and as soon as you can gracefully stop attending and look for another group.

My response would be the same as Jock's. I would go elsewhere. Personal choice is just that and ignorance is just ignorance.

I'm not using that word as it has often been used to mean "rudeness," but rather for its true meaning - lack of knowledge. You can't legislate knowledge or intelligence.

Usually if it walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it's a duck. So,......

If you don't wear any clothing at club functions I don't see why it would matter what you wear before and after. Seems like boundaries are being over stepped.

Or if this is not the case, why would you where a kilt, or anything, everyday at a nudist club? If I were a member, running around naked, and another insisted on wearing clothing I'd have an issue with that too. Join, or start a kilt club if you must.

I totally don't get this. This is a club where members wear no clothes at all during club functions....meaning, you don't have your kilt on. What the hell are they thinking, that they can tell you what to wear or what not to wear when you're NOT doing club functions?

It's probably more complicated than that, but if it ISN'T, really more complicated then that, then I'd tell them to )*&% off and I'd go elsewhere.

Sounds to me like your club has been hijacked. I find myself in agreement with Jock and Chas. I do find myself scratching my head though at how they can tell you what to wear when not at a club function. How can any bylaws of a club, dictate to your non-club life?
