    Running in a wool kilt?

Well my niece requested (told) that I enter the Cupid's Undie Run in St. louis ( http://cupidsundierun.com/13/?c=stl&p=h ) for the Children's Tumour Foundation and run in a kilt.

I had hoped to find the money to pick up one of Rocky's PV ones in Maclean hunting, but that's not going to happen, soooo...

How feasible is it for me to run 1.7 miles in a wool kilt without killing it?

Temperatures could be minus 20 or 70 degrees, could be 3 feet of snow or bright sunshine... Gotta love St Louis weather...

If you can do it without sweating, the kilt will probably be fine.

Sweat would be my main concern. I'd want a layer or two between my skin and the wool.

Given that you have lots of time until the event, you might find someone here who would loan you a washable PV or acrylic kilt for the day. What size do you wear?

What's wrong with a nice sloooow run?

Troops march at 4mph. Even if you marched, you could do it in less than 30 minutes and not break a sweat.

Make a video-log - before, during and after.

    Regards

If it gets wet, wear it above the knee. Even if you have to hike it up more. The wet wool can cut your skin when you run.

I don't think it will be a problem at all. Wear shorts or compression shorts under it (like you would for an unkilted run), or you'll jangle around. Wear a shirt tucked in, and your kilt will be fine.

Good on you for running for a good cause!

I would suggest taking off any kilt pin(s) you may have. The extra jostling may cause a pin to move about more energetically and enlarge any holes.

I've perspired (quite often, and quite a lot) while wearing a kilt. (It gets REALLY humid in this part of the country in the summertime - as measured from mid-May through September.) It won't hurt the kilt as long as you allow it to air out before putting it away. I'm fortunate to have a spare bedroom where I can lay the kilt out on the bed - that's actually where it's "stored" most of the time.

I'd second the notion of wearing something like biking shorts under your kilt. It'll be a little warmer, and you'll be much less likely to rub anything raw.

For this particular purpose I definitely agree!
