The Velcro closure on my USA Kilts Casual is one of my favorite things about it. It holds fast when in place, as mentioned above, and it is very easily adjustable. When I sit down, I like to let a little of the waist of my kilt out in order to give me a bit more room. With the two Velcro closure points (left and right) it is easy to do - much easier than on any other of my more traditional wool kilts.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

I'm with you on the traditional and casual kilt deal. In my clan tartan (MacGregor) I have a full set of tartans in each. For every Traditional kilt (tank) I have the same have same in a 13 oz. 5 yard casual cut. I love them all. My wool kilts are a luxury that I really appreciate having ,and wearing.

Obviously, the two different cuts fit differently, and (again) each "fit" is perfect for it's right occasion.

I've been eyeing the Stillwater Standard in Leatherneck for some time now. Does anyone know if the standard is much heavier than the thrifty version? I'm lookin for a little heavier kilt without goin all out. Did you find the colors pretty much matched what you saw on the website? Also, I'm 5'9" so I think a standard 24" drop might be too long. It should be pretty easy to get altered to a 23" drop right?

    Hey Camel Cody..

I can't really address the comparison regarding weight between the two. I wanted a light weight kilt for Summer and it's substantially lighter than my Celtic Croft wool blend. After having it for awhile now I'm still quite happy with it. Regarding coloration the tartan really looks great with rich colors. In-so-far as length goes I'm barely (clears throat) 5'8 and the length and drop are fine for me but everyone is built differently with the space between the true waist and mid or top of knee. It would indeed be an easy alteration in this case if you wish it. I suspect (am guessing) you may in fact like the length. I hope that helps. For the price you can not go wrong. The Thrifty doesn't claim to be other than what it is; a bargain and a decent little kilt to have around. Good luck in your choice.

Thanks I appreciate the advice. I like the look of the tartan and what it represents, I've been out of the Corps only a year now and am starting to get sentimental

Had one for a couple years and as it was 25", took it to local tailor and she took it up with a 2" blind hem stitch.

Perhaps sad to say, but despite its "cheapness," it gets worn (entirely around home) more than any other.

In Chicago hot-humid summer, it's really about the only "really comfortable" one.

BEST kilt value on the planet in this opinion.
