driving while kilted

just noticed yesterday,
while going (kilted) to the local mall, it seems MUCH easier to get seated and arranged when i am the passenger! i think it has something to do with the direction of the pleats. lucky gents who drive on the wron...right....other side of the car!

Well, I guess I am one of the "lucky gents" since, as drivers, we sit on the right-hand side of our cars here in the United Kingdom. However, it is still a bit of a 'performance' getting the pleats arranged beneath oneself UNLESS you do as I did! I purchased a car-seat-sized padded turntable (intended for the elderly or infirmed). Costing about £12.00**, this gadget enables me to slide back onto the seat from outside the car, then to swing my legs into the driving position without disturbing the pleats I am sitting on - the seat, in effect, turns with me.

OK, the padding is not quite as luxurious as the car seat and is not best comfortable on long journeys, but the turntable is the answer to a kiltsman's prayer otherwise!

(** As far as I know, these things are not sold in shops or motor accessory stores, but they frequently appear in mail-order catalogues that drop through my letterbox).

Sorry, but I have no sympathy for those unfortunate souls who live in countries that drive on the wrong side of the road.

Australia has always been called the "lucky country", do you know why? It's because we drive on the left, thereby ensuring that our pleats remain smooth and luvely.

I also drive a Toyota Tarago that has steering wheel adjustment, I tend to raise the wheel up to get in and out, it give me more room to arrange the pleats, (even tho I don't need to because we drive on the left) haha!

I live 140 miles from the nearest city, so drive a lot. Driving kilted has sure improved my comfort on long drives.

What amazes me is that long haul truckers are not flocking to kilts. Especially some of the kilts designed for working men like UK's workman.

Also can't figure why UK isn't marketing to truckers at truck conventions, shows, etc.

Any male who drives for a living could improve their comfort with a kilt.
