You look pretty sharp, although I'm not a big fan of the black hose. I'm a bit bland in my tastes some days..

Darrell,
Welcome to the forum, the kilt looks great. In no time at all you will feel at home and be laughing along with the rest of us, we have a great time here.

Looks great, and I agree with the rest, red flashes, lighter color hose and a BIG smile. Sorry to hear you have all the pain, went through that two years ago and had surgery. Much, much better now.

No, it's not just you. There was a whole thread on this not too long ago.
Note - I now have 10 SportKilts. They are: solid khaki, solid gun metal grey, All Irish Green, Amstrong, Irisher (a kelly green and cobalt blue combo), USA tartan, Saint Patricks, MacLaren Ancient, Stewart Black, and Black Watch. All have belt loops and sewn down pleats. Not bad for the money, and gives me a lot of variety on a limited income due to my disability. Obviously I'm addicted, and love wearing them.
And obviously, you're in the right place!
Welcome to the board, & I hope you get relief soon.

I'm going to agree with Freelander Sporrano's earlier post.
My personal taste/take on Sportkilts, which I'm wearing right now, btw, is that the comfort of the low waist should be covered by the sweater or shirt. That way you still get the traditional look, which is what I'm after. The big buckle draws attention to the no waist and makes it more skirt like, again my opinion/taste.
Hamish posted somewhere about socks and visual silhouette. Women want a pointed shape to their legs so dark socks/stockings. Kilties want more rectangular shape so light colours add bulk. (Thundercalfs can wear darker colours better, hint.) Flashes help put colour into a blank spot on a colourful package.
Sporran would be good, again less skirt like with a sporran, check R-kilts. The best in my opinion.
I'm only commenting because you asked, you do carry everything well. As for your facial expression, most of the world think of Scots as grumpy so it works for me. I never registered it until I read the posts and went back and looked. Be confident.
My last comment: 10 sportkilts = 4 sportkilts and 1 tank = 7 sportkilts and a R-kilt. The world's your oyster.

A Meerschaum dangling from the lips would complete the look. You don't even have to ever light it.
Me, give fashion advice? I think not.

Ditto.
However, I have my own pair of black hose and I've come to just hate 'em. Wish I'd bought cream or oatmeal.

Hey Darrell, you're addicted for sure. Whatever you do don't go to the Utilikilts website
I have a Black Stuart SportKilt too, my third SportKilt but the first with the belt loops and sewn down pleats. I'm about the same size. Have a couple pics on the bottom of page 5 of my gallery with nearly the same outfit on. Works for me.
Have also worn it with red soccer sox but don't think I have any pics. That was for game day at the local high school who's colors are red and black. The red soccer sox are pretty wild, sort of overpower the kilt.
Now that SportKilts are available with pleats they do seem to be a good bargain...a fast way to build a kilt collection.
Part of the reason I'm a kilt junkie is that I like having different looks from day to day and mixing and matching what I do have so the folks that see me at work don't get used to the same outfit.
