    It never ceases to amaze

It never ceases to amaze me how much the kilt can be used to make contact with people. ...
Today I have spent the whole day at a church Christmas bazaar. I stood at the tea, coffee and cake stall selling to all sorts of people. Usually Norwegians are a reserved lot and don't say much.Today people came up to the stall and waited until I was finished serving so they could be served by me . This even while the others were ready to help.

The lady in charge said I should stand there all day as it was good for fund raising. The only problem was I spent a lot of time answering the same usual questions Than I did serving as people were just fasinated. However it was fun and I enjoyed it Whats more the day Past quickly.

By the time it was over my wife had left for work . I took the children to MacDonalds. Someone there asked me why I had the kilt on So I said "well this is MacDonalds" they looked as if they were thinking about it ,I winked and left them ponder what I'd said.

The kilt has hidden powers if it can get norwegians to be sociable then there's hope for us all (ps if Sten Rune reads this I'm in trouble)

    David,

I'm glad you were out making friends in your kilt.......but shouldn't you be home making sporrans for the rest of us?

I've found that anything out of the ordinary (as long as it's not "anti-social" looking) can be used as a conversation starter.

I feel most people are friendly, they just need "a push" to become more outgoing.

I'm stealing your MacDonald's comment it's amusing and as I'm not fast enuff with a comeback I'm taking yours!

    David,

Well done! I too do volunteer work at various fairs and bazaars around town, and fine that if I am standing in front of the stall (booth) more people come up and want to talk. Gives a better chance to get whatever message the stall is about out.

Oh and by the way I won't tell Sten Rune.

So I said "well this is MacDonalds"...
That is great! Now, if we just went to McDonald's...

Alas, my Freelander Sporran is still somewhere in the wilds of the US Postal System. I hope you built in homing instincts.

Rob, you must be getting desperate. It seems that your signiture is getting bolder and bolder fonts daily.

    Dee,

Thanks for a morning chuckle! Not any larger or bolder than I already am! Wanted to change it the other day and could not come up with any deep thoughts, so thought I would try to make some money on the space while I came up with a new tag line!
