    I got mine from kilt.store.
Otherwise I have bought hose on ebay, but "stone" is not that frequently offered (at least the period of time I've been checking).

This brings up something I've noticed.I've seen "stone" referred to as either oatmeal or tan colored. Can someone shed some light on this?
To me, oatmeal is a tan color and stone is a greyish in color. I have both and was just wondering.

I've always considered them two different colors. The oatmeal has a tan color to it, while the stone is grey. Unfortunately, some places sell oatmeal and call it stone.

I can't say that I have seen stone from anyplace in the States. ScottishKilts has a selection of colors, including stone.

I was going to ask: is this a matter of warm grey/neutral grey/cool grey?

The oatmeal yarn is a staple of fly-tying and it has always seemed warm (a pale tan) to me. Greys can be cool and have either a blue or green cast to them while the warm greys can appear yellowish or magenta-ish. Not to muddy the subject...I just wonder where a stone grey falls in. In a past life I was a catalog photographer and the clients were very particular about how colors were rendered.

Here is a link to Carolina Celt I just found.
They are called Stone/Oatmeal but appear more "stone" in color.

Dave, If this stockist can be relied upon to maintain a regular supply, I'd say those hose, listed as "Stone/Oatmeal" are as close to stone that you'll find.

I have three pairs from the same manufacturer (not retailer though) - 'Gaelic Themes' - and they are what I refer to as stone. They have a rather cooler greyish tint to them than any of my oatmeal hose.

With my 'Kollection' I find it almost essential to have both stone and oatmeal hose on hand (Well! On foot actually!! )
