I'm in the paper!

My wife and I were in the Sunday edition of the San Francisco Chronicle.
The Chronicle has been asking for submissions about people's cars and what makes their ride special. I sent in a piece, they called me up and arranged a photographer to come and take our picture. Anyone interested can check it out at:

Great article. It's funny how we relate to certain cars and we're convinced they have a personality (probably a reflection of our own). My favorite cars was this '69 chevy El Camino that had a 350 small block in it, air shocks in the back. I used to jack up the *** end of that thing so high that I almost looked straight down at the road as I drove....ah, memories! Congrats on being published.

Oh boy, a whole new thread idea. "The best car you've ever owned."

Mine was a '62 e-type Jag. Convertable of course. With original hard top. And to top it off I was single, in the military, with cash in my pocket, and living in Hawaii.

It just don't get any better.

Please tell me you kept your '62 Jaguar E-type convertible and have lovingly pampered it. So you can drive it on warm sunny days and watch people all about you drool and turn green with envy as you blissfully cruise on by...

That's a ripper of an article. Nice buy on the mustang. Great your wife supported your dream there, but then dissed you nationally, well now internationally. shallow indeed!

Best car I ever owned? A no brainer. A 1968 Pontiac LeMans in Aztec Gold with a big block 350. That thing was tough and fast. Driving it felt like flying.

Given lucas electrics did you have a "Thermal under bonnet experience?"

I think the best car I ever owned was a '71 Austin mini.. That was some fun car to drive...ya I coped with the Lucas Electrics... as for convertables a 68 VW Red convertable and a "72 VW red convertable.
Both my nieghbours have Jags one's a sedan the other is the E type

Probably showing my age here (or lack there of?) but my best/favorite vehicle was a 67 Chevy Impala convertible. Body was rough, replaced the top and had to renovate the hydraulics to get the top to work, but boy was it sweet! 17 years old when I bought it, but the motor was still strong. Can't beat an old Chevy small block. Wishi I still had it.

My second favorite was my 70 Impala. Re-built the engine in that baby and used it for trailering our boat for years before trading it in on a newer vehicle. Still regret that decision.
