I've often been told that I have the winds, but I doubt they'd be much help with bagpiping!

Seriously, I'm still fighting with my practice chanter. It was a real cheapo so I think I'm gonna order a new one and actually spend some money this time.

Yes, bagpiping takes a lot of blow, especially if you have a sheepskin bag and it needs seasoning, although you will find it a bit easier at the beginning by blocking off one of the drones initially. Many pipers have told me goretex bags take less blowing but I#ve tried both sheepskin and goretex and never noticed much difference. I reached a standard of being able to play about ten simple tunes but never good enough to march in a band. I was also into distance running. I sold the pipes a few years ago to pay for flying lessons and when I went for the pilot's medical my peak flow test went off the top of the scale so it seems I have exceptionally good lungs. Anyway good luck with the piping - its a good way to meet people and piping up kilted in a scenic spot stirs the blood.
