O'Neille Cord Kilt
Prior to getting in touch with our resident Renaissance man, O'Neille, I only had tartan kilts and not many of them at that. I thought I'd like something a little more casual. After getting in touch with him, we decided on a corduroy box-pleated kilt. He asked a number of questions about what I was after and I sent him my measurements. It didn't take too long for the mail man to bring this.
I apologize for the way I look in the first one. I also apologize for the size of the photos. I have no idea how to resize them. My wife neglected to mention that I needed to rearrange things. It is not the kilt but rather it's me.
It is lovely! Thank you, O'Neille! I can't imagine having the ability to be so talented at so many things. He did a marvelous job.
I don't know what cord is like to work with. I don't know what wool is to work with either, so it would be a moot point. I do know that this is extremely comfortable! I can dress it up with a shirt and tie or dress it down with a turtleneck or t-shirt. To say that it is versatile is an understatement. It moves nicely when I walk.
One additional nice feature is the pockets that he put in.
They are big enough to hold a wallet and keys, so there is no need to wear a sporran if I don't desire.
Here's a close-up of the box pleats. This is my first box pleat kilt and thanks to the craftsmanship of O'Neille, certainly won't be my last.
Anything remotely close to blurry on the image is the camera. The cord itself is crisp.
A number of things come out of this. O'Neille Kilts come with the highest recommendation. What the man can do is amazing. Box pleats are a nice alternative to the regular knife pleats. And corduroy is a great fabric for a kilt. I'm not sure what it will be like over the long haul; I suspect things will be just fine since there is no material in my thigh area to rub the wales off.
Thumbs up to O'Neille. I love it and will wear it proudly.

I've been looking forward to this review. It looks fantastic! I really like the color. The boxpleats work VERY well for the corduroy fabric. I throughly enjoy my "bark and leaf" camo kilt by O'Neille. So, I have no doubt the quality of work is far above par! Looking good O'Neille.
