I too will chime in and state that I have a black Workman's (bought it off E-Bay from poor fella who lost weight) and I LOVE it. I go up in the Smokey Mountains quite often to see sunrises, and have worn my UK many times. Even at Clingman's Dome in November, didn't get cold. Good advice about keeping the "core" (upper body) warm, it helps. But I have found that the material is thick enough to keep out most of the wind in the winter and relaxed enough to let a breeze in in the summer. I, like most everyone else here, WANT MORE KILTS!!! I think I may actually break down and buy a tartan (SWK Irish National) soon, but am also looking at an AK, as I really like their sporran idea. Is that prety durable?

If it wasn't a good idea, and one that worked... all those other companies wouldn't have taken it for their own kilts. Not only is it durable, but it's quite comfortable!

As for the talk on the UtiliKilts, I wouldn't trade mine for anything. Not only is it unique and easily identifiable, but it's a whole different animal in the kilt circles. Look at how many Sci-Fi conventions have guys in them. Look at the alternative lifestyle pages and how many folks wear them. The "kilt" exposure from UtiliKilt is unmatched and should be applauded by all who look to further the cause of the garment in mainstream society.

I saw many, many, many kilts this weekend at Dragon*Con. In fact, there are so many kilts that Dragoncon TV actually had a wisecrack about 80% of congoers wearing kilts.

    I'm new here

I'm new to the forum and kilt ownership but I own a Black Original UK and love it. Living in the south (atlanta area in GA) means I get more skirt comments than most but I still get a lot more positive comments than negative. In fact, just this weekend I wore it with hose, sporran, and a coat and tie to my highschool's homecoming dance. Everyone there loved it and for the 2 hours I was there, i recieved near non-stop compliments on both it and the fact that I wore it. I was even amazed because several people actually knew that it was a UK specifically. I have to say, it's the most comfortable thing I've worn and I have every intent to add more to my wardrobe.

    San Francisco Spottings

Wore my olive original UK to the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival this past weekend (great weather and great performers, by the way). Was happy to spot and greet another UK wearer in a tan original. There may have been more, it was a huge event.

Afterwards I attended a Burning Man related faire, at which a discount on admission was given for those appropriately attired. Glad to say my UK did the trick, and not surprisingly I saw many UK's in attendance, mostly well worn black workman models. (The coolest thing I saw, however, was this 12 foot neon Praying Mantis contraption, pictured here )

    Best regards,

    Jake

I have both a black Mocker and a camo Original. I prefer the Mocker to the original because of the Mockers slash pockets and the rear pocket is also deeper in the Mocker.

I have three UK's. A black mocker, a black denim original, and a blue denim original. I am extremly happy with all three, and will more that likely be ordering a carmel workman's in the very near future.

a mocker...LOVE it! gray model, they don't make em anymore...for some reason..but it's the DRESSIEST kilt i've worn..
and it gets more comments than any of my plaid/tartans..
i've only been slow to get another because i have a black amerikilt..which suits me fine, and a green olive drab...that is the best kick around in the world.

    Hey Gil,
Is that the older sort of gunmetal gray one? Because we do have a heather gray Mocker regularly in stock now, and it is a WONDERFUL material. A poly/cotton blend like the other Mockers (machine washable!), but it feels like a fine suit-quality wool. I LOVE mine.

It's on the website if you want to check it out.

I'm very happy with my (olive) mocker, which I got for my wedding last August. Being allergic to wool, I'm not sure I can go the traditional wool route, and I'm hoping Santa might bring me another UK for Christmas, if I don't get another for my birthday. It's very comfortable, and I think it looks great - I just need to get around to figuring out how to post some of my wedding pictures.
