			$5.00 kilt jacket?

The other day I had a rare free moment at work and was passing a goodwill store and decided to stop in. I was hoping to find a jacket that I could convert. The very last jacket on the two racks was a short tux jacket, IN MY SIZE! I have put the buttons on the front, still need to put buttons on sleeves. Now, here is my problem, all the formal kilt jackets have epaullettes. How do I make those? I have never seen a formal kilt jacket in real life before. Once I've done that, how do I post pics?

Epaullettes are popular on kilt jackets, but not mandatory.

Here are two threads about my converted Tux Jacket:

To make a proper epaulette you will need to open up the seam between the sleeve and the body of the jacket and sew it into that seam before attaching it at the shoulder with a button. That seems pretty major tailor work to me.
There are a variety of tux styles and I see no reason there can't be a variety of formal kilted jackets. I certainly like epaulets on kilt jackets, but it isn't essential.

Good luck with the conversion. I am also doing something similar. I bought a one button, shawl collar eton jacket from www.uniformalwearhouse.com. I have just got the buttons and I am taking the jacket to a local alterations shop to have them put on. I know it's not strictly a proper jacket but at $39 compared to $395 it's a start.
