BLAZN my way to AZ
Ok... I'm not sure where to put this post, so I'm putting it here in the general area.
In February, myself and my family will be making a trek to AZ. Scotsdale to be exact. The main reason we're going is to attend the Arizona Ren. Festival. Saturday, Feb. 24th is the day we intend to hit up the faire. We fly back to Maine on the 25th. We're expecting to arrive on the 22nd or 23rd.
In th eplans for Saturday night... a trip to the Scotsdale Tilted Kilt (connections will ensure a baby sitter for my wee-uns. Any fun held before Saturday will likely have to include the kids.
So... anyone that might want to meet up, post here so we can get something going.

I'm up for it. You might want to hit Retro Red up - he's got the most Arizona contact information, I think.

I know there's a bunch of Arizona fellas who like to have kilt nights. You might hit up O'Neille and that lot.

If you're driving (and I hope you're not) you can always make a stop here in Colorado. We'd be happy to entertain you and the little ones for an early evening.

Hey, BLAZN, that's great news! And perfect timing, too! Not only will the Ren Faire be going on that weekend, but that's the weekend (Feb. 24th & 25th) for the Arizona Scottish Gathering & Highland Games. (Plus, our usual Snowbird Special weather - sunny & warm!)
http://www.arizonascots.com/games.html
Since both events are on the east side of the Valley, there's a number of folks who attend both in the same day. For me, the highlight of the Games is the Opening Ceremony at Noon on Saturday with the massed bands (over 60 bagpipes playing at once - glorious!) & the march of the clans.
There had been some preliminary discussions for the Zonie Rabble to meet after the Games with Saturday night the most likely candidate; I'd say this news pretty much cements that date.
I'll send out a notice to the Zonie Rabble to get consensus on meeting Saturday night, Feb. 24th, & let you know our plans.
I frequently stop in at the North Scottsdale Tilted Kilt for lunch. Either that place or Rula Bula's in downtown Tempe are my top 2 suggestions for a post-Games Kilt Nite.
Cheers!

Aye Jim,
Suggest you'll have much more fun and more air to breathe at the Highland Games that weekend.
Sure, the Ren Faire is fun if you're in costume, but the last years its seemed soooo very crowded with folks...lots of dust...long lines...maybe its me...
Maybe you can split days...but my unsolicited suggestion is at least include the Highland games in your trip for a part of a day.
I'm hoping to be down in Mesa for the games too.

Davezero... come on up... looks like there's a party brewin'!
Livingston... against my personal preferences, we're flying. I wish we could make the trip on 4 wheels. I hate flying.
KT... I'd wave, but I'm sure I'll be out cold. A little gem called NyQuil always helps me fly.
Retro... great plan. At the risk of overstepping my bounds, I'd ask that the kilt night definately happen at the Tilted Kilt... plans have already been fairly well cemented to do an after faire gathering there with a few people who are waiting to see us.
As for the Highland Games... I'd love to make that, but there are several Rennies who will be meeting up with us at the faire. The whole family will be in garb, and I'd be hard pressed to talk the wife into the Games. I'll see what can happen.

Well, the Ren Faire and the Games are "Freeway close."
I can accurately guess that the weather will either be hotter than you'd expected in February or a hard rain with resulting muddy quagmires at the Ren Faire.
