That was kind of creepy...
"Kind of" creepy? I found it 'extremely' creepy..... but flattering nonetheless!

Thanks
Oh dear, Gil! I am afraid I do not 'shop around' when it comes to jackets. Apart from my formal Prince Charlie and two Doublets, I have a black barathea Crail jacket and seven tweed Argyll day jackets. Three of the latter I have acquired since November. With one exception, my first Argyll, all of them came from Geoffrey (Tailor) in Edinburgh. Additionally, I have three kilt suits (kilt and jacket matching) from TFCK.***
By way of an explanation: I really do not think you will find a quality kiltmaker who also makes the jackets. Invariably, orders for bespoke jackets are passed out to specialist jacket tailors, so you are unlikely to know precisely who made your jacket - and I have never asked. I have faith in my regular kiltmaker to provide me with the best quality jacket, which he has always done.
I am sorry I am unable to answer your points about the best bargain and who should be avoided. Personally, I would avoid like the plague any jacket that I suspected had been made in Pakistan but was being passed-off as being made in Scotland!!
*** Later (2nd March): My apologies to one and all - these details are quite inaccurate! I was rushing to send this post before hurrying off to attend a meeting yesterday and I did not check it. I was working from memory rather than consulting my inventory! For an accurate listing, please see my later post in the Kilt Jacket thread. Again, my apologies.

I feel like a kilt wimp here. My three are all tartans - a handsewn tank, a SWK economy and an SWK standard. I hope to order an Irish National this year but it won't be until summer. Within the next two years I will order another tank.

I haven't really counted. Let's see
2 tanks from Alexis Malcolm (heavyweight US Army, lightweight MacIan)
1 tank from Kathy Lare (Xmarks)
1 tank from Kiltstore (Welsh Edwards)
1 box-pleated from Matt (German national)
1 Pittsburgh Kilt (desert camo)
4 Stillwater standards
1 Amerikilt
1 Utilikilt
1 Buzz Kidder canvas kilt
OK, that makes 13, not counting historical kilts (great kilts and such). On no, 13, that's unlucky. I guess I need to order another.
I find I mainly wear one of my kilts from Alexis, except for occasions when I want a specific tartan. I hardly ever wear the Amerikilt or the Utilikilt, and the Stillwaters and Buzz Kidder don't see much more use. I guess I'm a traditionalist and like the tartans.

What about the chocolate brown corduroy that you teased us with last fall. (it's still not on the companies web site for sale yet, but I plan on inquiring on my own in about a month.)
