No, I don't think it'd work well. For one thing, you'd have to separate the waistband from the lower part and shorten it, too. Sounds like a lot of fuss. On the other hand, if the alternative is taking the whole thing apart...
I'm not a tailor, though, so I'll have to ask her...

If you keep adding a pleat to the apron, eventually it will be pleated nearly all the way around with very little apron. I think it's possible to a certain extent but eventually you will have to take it completely apart and remake it just to keep the pleat/apron balance. Let's see what the professionals have to say about it...
Congratulations on the weight loss so far and keep up the good work.

Regardless of whether you can rework your kilts, you should still reward yourself for reducing by replacing your kilts.
Keep it up!

9lbs is a lot of calories, Starbucks mocha are a lot of calories. You must have avoided a lot of Starbucks mochas to lose that weight. The money you saved is your new kilt fund.
Do your own math. Be generous.
Now you can be healthier and flashier, girlfriend won't be tired and taken for granted. Love reigns.

Getting the gut was no problem at all. Getting rid of it, on the other hand, is proving to be a pain in the rear...

I want to see the comment from the real kilt makers but wouldn't it be better to open a pleat at the end of both aprons and then deepen the big pleats under the aprons?

Weight Loss
If you lose the weight you'll be able to enjoy your kilts longer and in better health. Nine pounds is great! Keep going! I lost 50 last year, you can do it!

losing weight is great...losing inches is even better.. I know how hard it is to offer a kilt up for sale that no longer fits.. but I've just done exactly that... Black UK original... my first kilt... it has a special place in my heart.. but not around my waist.. maybe some lucky person will buy it...if not, then it'll sit in my closet...
