Space Warship Wars!-> Who would win?

    One for the "nerd contingent:"

Based on one of the CLASSIC Star Wars/Star Trek debates . . .

What would be "fair" pairings of fictional space warships and who would win in a battle?

Clearly, E. E. "Doc" Smith's "Galactic Patrol" would win.

I'm not sure I fully understand the question, but I think the Lensmen would have a leg up, so to speak!

You name it, the Galactic Patrol wins. First of all? More powerful psychics than the Jedi. Secondly? The Empire controlled one galaxy, while the Galactic Patrol conquered their way through two in pretty quick order. Third, they have the Q-Helix, which bores through Federation shields like tissue paper. And fourth? Doc Smith invented space opera, and spent four novels trying to think of more powerful superlatives to describe the ships of the Galactic Patrol!

The Death Star? Phu-lease! The Emperor was a piker! The Galactic Patrol used black holes in opposing orbits to destroy whole solar systems!

    Ok,
    I was thinking:

    Star Destroyer VS. Enterprise
Millennium Falcon or Slave 1 vs. Klingon Bird of Prey

(ie-> based on the tangent in the Forum names thread)

The original Star Trek would dust everybody. First the principle of low-tech victory, the message of Star Wars, originated in the first series. Second, the original Kirk crew survived everything without Borg alliances and psychics. Third, they had an inexhaustible supply of unnamed Red Shirts as cannon fodder. Fourth, the wholistic structure of male and female leadership, that evolved to the emotional Kirk and the rational Spock is an unconquerable force. Fifth, considering what he had to deal with, Scotty could make anything run. Sixth, Kirk, get it? God was with them. Seventh, Kirk (huh huh?), Scotty (huh, huh?), bagpipes (huh, huh?), it was a Scottish voyage. They were looking for worse weather over there. What other nation/planet can top that?

I agree with Archangel. The Old Enterprise could take all comers. Planet killer? Ram a starship down its throat. Living brains? Out game the gamesters. Giant spaceborne ameoba? Piece of cake!

And I'm sure Kirk would be smart enough to swing around to the other side of the Death Star. The one without the Death Ray. Admiral Akbar, on the other hand...

As for Jedi v. Federation, well, one would think they'd be on the same side, right? Of course, if it came down to it I'd like to see a Jedi try to bounce back a phaser beam set on wide!

Yes, my favorite is Star Trek, but I like Star Wars, too. X vs. Y can be fun, but some people take it way to seriously. Both are good! And there will never, never be a movie crossover, so we'll never really know.

I'm a Babylon 5 fan and in my opinion...

A Vorlon Planet Killer wins over the Death Star

A White Star takes out the Millenium Falcon

An Omega Class Destroyer Battle group (with a Warlock class flag ship) beats a fleet of Star Destroyers (with Super Star Destroyer flag ship)

The Excalibur takes out the Enterprise D with one shot

However Archangel was completely right noting that all bets are off with the original Enterprise. For they had the almighty "Kirk Factor" with them.

Against the Kirk Factor it doesn't matter how much advanced technology you have. It won't help if you have superior numbers. He may get a little mussed up (small drip of blood on side of mouth, smudge of dirt on nose, shirt sleeve seam ripped, and hair tossled) but...

    He will out think you!

    He will out fight you!

He will move you to tears with his manly compassion!

His eloquence will give you pause!

He will sleep with your attractive females clad in their silver Go Go boots!

He is KIRK! And like the Tick, he is nigh invulnerable!

    Cheers

    Jamie

Okay Geeks, Was not the original Enterpise not of a later generation than all the other trek franchises? Would it not be a more powerful weapon through evolving technologies?
