Well I hope everyone had a good time. I'm sorry I didn't run into anyone. My wife and I could only come for the Ceilidh on Saturday night. I know Navyguy and I probably going opposite directions on the highway.
We did enjoy the festival. Unfortunately as the sun set and wind rose it got cooler than we were prepared for. So we didn't stay for the last two band (the last being Albannach which was the one I really wanted to see). From the pics and what we saw, it looked like everyone had a great time.
I love the special festival brew St George did. Although I'm partial to Nut Brown Ales.

It was great meeting Mael Coluim, and Albannach was great, as usual. I don't know how Jamsie can expend so much energy on a day , which by Virginia standards wasn't hot, but by Scottish standards was. I didn't run into any other Xmarkers, but the manager at the Comfort Inn, where we stayed was quite interested in my kilts and asked about our forum. I gave him the URL, so we might soon have a new member here from Williamsburg.

Did anyone else think the whole event was un organized? For a 30th anual event, It just seemed "thrown together". The games were held in the back corner, not viewer friendly, and everything was happining at once. I am glad that active duty military got in free or I would have been disapointed. On another note, I wish I read this thread sooner, I would like to have met some of you. djweso couldn' get there til after I left. (kids had been there all day and needed rest. Over all I made the bst of it and had fun.

Try Richmond at the end of this month. There will be a lot more going on, including the annual North American Scottish heavy athletics championship. Unfortunately, all of the festivals I have attended are similar. This is because they are somewhat like a big state fair. A lot of things are happening at the same time. However, the athletic field in Richmond is a lot bigger than in Williamsburg. But like all venues, the clan tents are arranged around the field, making the available spectator area smaller.
