We have tried something similar to this in the past. We had a global party for Hamish's birthday a few years ago http://bearkilts.com/KiltsNight/may1kn.html
I think that given the date of the Xmarks anniversary, that it would be best to try for a Burns night on the following week of January 20th-26th, which would incorporate the 4th Xmarks birthday and Robbie Burns day. It's always a good excuse to get a bunch of kilties together for a good time.
Lets make the 27th a practice run for the celebration of Burns week in January. Practice is always good, right? Exercize is good and if we start practising our weight lifting now, we will be ready for January. 1 oz, 12 oz, or 1/2 liter curls will get us in shape for The World Wide Burns Dinner in Jan.

Forgive me but this is a kilt forum, if you want to talk about everyone lifting a beer or single malt you might want to talk about it in the pub forum, not here.
That said, I will be out at our local gathering most likely lifting a ginger ale to this wonderful forum.
McMurdo I think you dost protest to much. I fully support your right to drink what you want and do not support drinking to excess. As I scan this forum beer and single malt are frequent topics. In fact a search for the word beer shows 500 hits.
You are not in the minority you are a majority of one in how you do things and what you use to toast on the 27th. I choose beer and will probably have 2 on the 27th and have my wife coming along to drive.
I believe that most on this forum understood the "lifting a beer" as a generic statement to join in to toast being kilted and X-MarkstheScot and the fellowship of the kilt. I am relatively new to the this forum and apologize if I over stepped my bounds.
I will limit my input in the future.

Chris
Please do not limit your input in the future, I will admit that I did in fact over react, one of the best things about this forum is that on issues such as these we can agree to disagree. I do welcome your views, and hope that I have not discouraged you.

Agree to wear the "mourning coats" and then show up in kilts instead?
Just a thought..

springfield. . .st.louie?
Ok, so I am reading all of these posts about a global kilt night and there are no Missourians piping in. I will throw my hat in the ring (as new as it may be) and say that I would love to get in on this global kilt night. Seems like a good enough excuse to me to get the kilted bunch o Missourians together.

That's the beauty of this "Global" thing! Where-ever you are on the 27th ( as a dry [or wet ] run for our X-Marks Birthday/Burns night) we will stop what we are doing and raise a toast (of whatever liquid libation desired) to all other X-Mark Clansmen (and women) around the globe - (globe get it - Global.) If at all possible, we will take a picture, and then we will share them (unless you are an undercover federal agent!) and we will grow closer!
Windy ain't I...
So - Berserk, you work all night? No sleep?

Yeah, I am pretty much nocturnal, cept for college. I will have a drink of "gatorade" for Xmarks on that day (as I would never dream of imbibing underage ) but I think it would be cool to get together with a few other members in the area if possible.

If I don't wind up going to Vancouver, BC for a BBQ/Costume party on the 27th, I will be kilted. Otherwise, I'll be in a pair of Levi's 550's... :-)
