Well i'm from western Kentucky,USA.
Have no history,or family origin to relatives that live in more accepting countrys of wearing kilts (unlike most of the USA) other than a wee bit of Irish.
Im half Shawnee,and God only knows what the rest of me is,but regardless,i still love wearing my kilts.
I purchased my first kilt about two years ago from Amerikilt,an love it.Purchased a second a short time later.Very casual but comfortable an can be worn most any where.
I bought my first tartan (Irish National) from Stillwater Kilts last summer.Very nice for what i paid for it,but a bit formal,and i have used it for more special occations.
I made my own fourth an fifth (with help from my spouse)and they turned out great.
I wear them around the house,going shopping,or family get togethers.
If you've never tried making one its pretty simple,but the hardest part is finding a good suitable material that will hold a pleat.
