    Night of the Twisters

Well, we had an eventful evening, to say the least!

Southwest Missouri was beseiged by tornadoes last night. The National Weather Service issued 62 tornado warnings for counties in SW MO in the space of 15 hours. At 2.30 this morning we had 100 mph winds in Springfield that were equivalent to the Catagory 2 hurricane.

The dawn will show the full extent of the damage.

Sorry to hear this and i hope that the damage is minimal.

We had a couple out West of Chicago last night as well...freaky weather.

I woke up to find about four inches of water in the basement this morning and I actually considered myself lucky since I at least still have a house that's standing and ONLY four inches of water. My heart goes out to the folks who suffer that incredible loss due to weather.

Sounds like a night we had here a few years back. The remnants of a hurricane passed through the area, and that evening there were over 50 tornados spotted in the area.

Yikes! Sounds terrible - keep a tight grip on Toto and keep your heads down!

I guess I'll stop complaining about the 8 inches of snow we're supposed to get today.

Oh, my, yes!! What is going on with this crazy weather?! In little Goodrich, Michigan (Flint suburb), we had 12 inches of snow a few days ago...yesterday we had 60 degrees and tornadic activity! WOW!! Michigan NEVER sees 60 degrees and tornadoes in January!
Hope you are all well in your area!

Read about Stafford and Marshfield this morning. What side of Springfield you on? Hear anything about Joplin? Any damage to your place? You didn't say if your family was ok. I sure hope they are. Let us know if there is anything we can do.

We're on the SE side of SGF, so we dodged the bullet for the most part. Most damage in town is either on the West-SW side, or on Chestnut Expressway to the north of (S)MSU. Strafford, Marshfield, Monett and Republic got the brunt of the storm.

I haven't heard anything about Joplin; I think they dodged the bullet as well, since most of the storms started to the south of there in MacDonald County.

We're fine; we rode out two of the storms in the WC.

This is a pretty good summary of last night's events.
