Looks like I will be showing the tartan in two states on Sunday. I'll be in Michigan from the 2nd till the 6th, then flying to Kansas City the afternoon of the 6th. I plan on wearing a kilt on the plane from Detroit to KC.
Todd, I saw you were having a gathering on Monday, the 7th, but I just don't think I can make it down to Springfield and back for a conference beginning Tuesday morning.

I'll be wearing my MacFarlane Sportkilt -- a casual look -- to church on Sunday. Just two weeks ago, for Easter Sunday, I wore my Blackwatch Stillwater Standard with a kilt jacket I made, and got numerous good comments (far more than I expected), a few jokes, a few questions and one gape-mouthed-what-the-heck-is-that awestruck stare (which I must admit was my favorite reaction of all). This should be interesting ...

Well, I figured today would be a good day to celebrate Tartan Day at work.

Wore the loud MacLeod to get folk's attention. USA Kilts semi-trad. Z Coils with Lewis kilt hose and traditional garter ties. Stillwater Kilts leather nighstalker sporran. Hopi hoodie from the Hopi Cultural Center on Second Mesa, Arizona.

Did a lot of explaining to coworkers about what Tartan Day was. Only comments on the loud MacLeod was, "Are you Scottish?" from a new client.

Alas, we neither acknowledge nor celebrate Tartan Day in England (perhaps for obvious reasons!), and I believe I am correct in saying that goes for the rest of the United Kingdom too. This is a great shame since, to be honest, we as a nation acknowledge and celebrate very little when compared to other countries around the world. Unlike our Scots, Welsh and Irish brethren we do not even acknowledge our Saint's day - St. George's on 23rd April! So sad!
However, personally speaking, hardly a day passes when I do not wear tartan - I am ALWAYS kilted, of course, but occasionally I am to be seen in a TFCK, Freedom, Union or another plain-coloured kilt. It would be untrue to say, therefore, that every day is Tartan Day in my case.

 Oh well!

 Take care,
 Ham.

It's already come and gone, but I did wear tartan on tartan day. That would be with my Weathered Lamont kilt. I went into town and so on...
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

					Aye Ham,
Tartan day is an American holiday to celebrate the contributions of Scots to America.

But hey, thanks for the heads up on St. George's Day...another reason to kilt up on 4/23. Guessing my RAF tartan would be most appropriate.

That sounds good to me, Ron - and it's a beautiful tartan. The best I will be able to sport is my Northumberland (or Shepherd or Falkirk) tartan, but that's OK.

Methinks I will have to design a Storrington tartan, or a Kilt Kollection tartan, sometime.
