    Thanks for all the suggestions folks. I wil try them all in order of feasibility until the odor is gone.

    Rocky, in regards to asking for a refund, I think that i can solve the problem beforet that is necessary. While I wish that the seller would have mentioned the smell or taken care of it, I did pay nearly nothing for it so I didnt have high expectations.

    I also noted that there was a "house-brand" generic version of that Dryel dry-clean-in your-clothes-dryer-at-home stuff when I was shopping at the Jewel the other day. I'd assume that if they had it at Jewel, they must have a generic brand in other big chain stores.

    Im sure your right, but I hesitate to try any home dry cleaning products. I dont know beans about domestic things really and would rather leave that to the professionals. I also would have to go to the laundromat in order to access a dryer and I dont feel like making a special trip just for this jacket when I can drop it off with a professional on my way to class. Time is money.

    I've used this trick to get rid of odours in wool garments, works quite well. Just make sure you don't use high heat.
