One bit of advise that is often given to older people (and I am one ) who find that they must walk in a dangerous area is to keep a hand balled up in a pocket. You know that you don't have a piece in your hand, but nobody else is ever really sure.

    Good show!

Saved by Sgian Dubh.... I love the title and the story. With a little tweaking of the story it could sound like the 17th cent.

No one is safe from a liar, who has his friends willing to perjure themselves. The problem with that reasoning is you would not be safe anywhere walking in the park, because they could kill you, plant a knife, gun, or twig on your body and (by your reasoning) get away with it.

Thankfully we don’t live in a world like that. We don’t (well I don’t) live in fear!

This is a perfectly good example why one should be prepared to defend themselves at any time. There are many ways to do it, but do you really want to be lesser armed than your potential adversary? Find out what is legal in your area, and excercise your rights. This is as far as I will go, given the rules I have chosen to abide by at this forum.

That's what drives me crazy about a lot of movies- predators don't like prey that bites them back.

Your posit of an unfavorable outcome sounds like an argument for nonviolent pacifism, perhaps in keeping with your choice to wear a comb or bottle opener that has the handle of a sgian dubh. That the story teller chooses to wear a (customary) weapon with his kilt suggests that you two might not share the same philosophy.

The higher the payoff, the more likely someone is to risk bravado. Or perhaps it wasn't bravado at all . . . something the story-teller knows and shouldn't tell.
