    Nashville in October

I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to make this trip, but I just found out that I will be in Nashville, Tennessee from 9 - 12 October.

Yea, I know, October is a long way off, but I hope to meet up with a few kilties from that area, if possible.

The flight gets in Thursday afternoon, and there looks to be some free time on both Thursday and Friday evening.

I'll be at the Maxwell House (I wonder if the coffee is free? ) at 2025 Metro Center Blvd... I won't have wheels.

    Anybody want to get together??

I too will keep this in mind, but unfortunatly with my hours of work (10am to 9:00 pm) I will probably not be able to attend. Best of luck to all though.

You know Jay, I might be through there at that time, but probably on Friday. Let's see what develops.

Yup - like I said - I know it's a long way off - But, at least for me, the dates are chiseled in stone. I will be at a convention of sorts, held at the Maxwell House Hotel, and I am not in the least familiar with the area. It now looks like both Thursday and Friday can be made open.

Do any of you guys who are local, know of a place close by that is kilt friendly – and by that I don’t mean a place where kilts are accepted, but I mean a nice quiet place where we can be comfortable, sit around and shoot the breeze while we solve the problems of the world while we are also enjoying some nice fluids – At least a Guiness or 12…

Doing a long range google finds a few places that sound promising, but I would hate to select a place sight-unseen, so I will bow to the local knowledge and experience.

The promos for the hotel say that is "close to down town" but who knows what that means??

To be very blunt about it, the hotel is about 2 miles from the center of downtown and probably mile and a half from the state capitol, but I would not recommend walking it, some not so great neighborhoods are in that area between the hotel and downtown. Dan McGuiness is probably about 3 miles from there and I have heard great things about it, but I don't drink much so I have not been there personally. Hope this helps some.
    Cheers,

Boscos is a gret venue with good home brews (try their Isle of Skye). Our bartender was a 10-year veteran of the Grandfather games. I'd say they are kilt friendly, and laid back.
