Mine has a label that says “Coat, Hot Weather”, “woodland camouflage” and “battle pattern” plus washing instructions. It had a bunch of insignias with it that were air force and I found a dog tag in a pocket that is also air force. It was well broken in therefore soft and comfortable. Washing has been a snap. Throw it in the wash then the drier put it on and go back to work.
Front – button closure
Whether it's a kilt or not depends on how fussy you are. I ain't fussy. If it's a skirt made for a man and has pleats in the back it's a kilt. My 15 year old grandson and his friends recognized it as a kilt. The closure is buttons in the front a little to the right of center. Pockets button and all buttons are hidden.
Back
One of the pleats turned back
Mine is pleated in the inverted Kingbussie style (I believe that's what it's called). In any event it has four wide pleats either side of a inverted box pleat all pointing to the back. That is nice in the garden and the shop as it doesn't snag on things. It is very full, free and comfortable. It is definitely contemporary and casual. It is a formal as a man that only wears shoes and socks in the dead of winter and hasn't owned a tie since the early eighties needs. Come to think of it I haven't seen my shoes since winter before last. Washed and touched up with steam iron and this kilt can go anywhere a Utlikilt can.
Delivery time was a little over a week and when I inquired by email I got a prompt reply. Very satisfactory. I asked for a 19 inch length and that's what I got. My only complaint is hem in the back was not even. The pleats on either side of the center box pleat were 1 ˝ to 2 inches longer that the center or the front. I corrected that myself.

This last picture is of a belt loop. It is very rough and barely wide enough for a 1 3/8 belt. For the money I'm not complaining. It is not a slick and polished garment but it suits a man that's not slick and polished either.
Thanks for the great pics. They need you to go to work for them for ad work!! How did you order yours? I have only seen them on ebay.

I ordered mine through ebay but I suppose you could use the email address from this website. Their website does not tell you much.

I went through ebay and paid with paypal. They have certain protections that have kept me from being burned on a couple of occasions. I learned the hard way both as a seller and a buyer.
I would deal with them direct now if there was any reason but I don't see any advantage to me.
I have certain speculations about this outfit that I hope are true but I doubt it. All I know is that I got a fair shake.
As a side note. I got this for something to wear while losing weight. I took it in an inch immediately by moving the buttons. I have since taken it in another two inches by adding darts at the seams on either side. The way its put together it is very easy to do and invisible. I'm going to I keep losing so I'll use a belt until it bunches up then I'll rip out the seams both sides and remove a couple more inches. I'll have to relearn the sewing machine for that. So far it just been hand work. It is very adaptable.

I saw this thread and decided to buy one on an impulse. Here is my review.

The sellers/kiltmakers were very quick to reply to questions, accommodate requests, and quick to ship, good ebayers.
Upon arrival my first impression was, even before opening the envelope, "How smoky." And for a couple of days it was the only smoky garment of clothing in the house. It reminded me of the pre-October 2007 days in MN when smoking was allowed indoors. The smell came out with a run through the laundry and I was free to get a feel for it.
My girlfriend says that it looks like a skirt from the front, but not the back. This is, I think, because the apron is too wide. It is fastened by means of plastic buttons along the right front of the apron.
There is no overlap in the apron, meaning there is only one layer of fabric between your junk and the world. The result of this is a feeling of lessened privacy and the presence of a bulge. Also, when squatting the kilt doesn't fall in between the legs so anyone standing 7 feet away will see you junk or underwear clearly. There is also a minor risk of this when sitting down on a chair. These are not issues I have when wearing my UK.
The fabric is the camo from a couple of "COAT, UTILITY, MATERNITY"'s. I love this idea for recycling. The way that it is stitched together gives it an uneven Frankenstein feel that is charming in its haphazardry and makes each garment unique. It has nice swish. The light weight of the fabric means that it is less to carry around which makes it more comfortable. Overall I recommend a GrodyGoose kilt as a kilt to kick around the house in and wear to very casual occasions. If you're going to live the kilted life, you'll need a kilt like this.

Data point: as of this posting, their website states "we are changing servers, this will take about a week." Can't say how long that message has been in place, but we'll see how long it takes for the site to reappear. . .
Interesting look and concept! Owners keep saying "great for the price" but unless I missed it, no price range mentioned?

That's the second time I've heard this about their kilts. You think they'd wash them.

Most smokers have lost their sense of smell, at least where smoke residue is concerned. And the rest don't seem to care

Are the Grody Goose kilts still available?
I thought that I would get one of these kilts but cannot find anything on the EBAY and they apparently do no longer answer email. Anyone have this result?
