I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread and for all the kind words. It really encourages a feller.

Shortly after this thread went into its second page I started searching for damascus knife blades because I had several others ask about a similar knife. Well, I think I now have several sources where I can get damascus blades at a reasonable price and I am looking forward to trying another...if only for myself....maybe with a stingray covered handle (I think stingray used to be called shagreen and was, at one time, common on the grip of swords). I've never seen nor felt real shagreen but the stingray I have is almost like it was beaded. Still working it out in my mind as to how I could wrap the handle with a thin silver or stainless wire.

That's a super nice sgain dubh. There's so many talented people here that I'm just always amazed with everyone's work with knife making.

Hopefully, my first build will go pretty smooth, one of these days. ;)
