Well it's been a zoo again today - getting to be normal. Plus I'm not much of one to change clothes and find a photographer so here's photos of the new kilt.

Congrats! I really want a Scottish National and this thread may be the straw that broke the camel's back! I very well may be ordering one real soon!

I apologize for being so pedantic but that is the Scotland's National--ITI #2154. I think the Scottish National is something else--ITI 2160 or maybe ITI 2240 depending on whether it is dress or htg. There is a difference however, not only in the sett but in the colours.
Reason I know this is that I have a 16 ounce, 10 yard, Balmoral wool kilt pleated to the stripe in the Scotland's National tartan.

I don't know about all that....The Scotland Kilt company says it's the Scottish National tartan.... the tags state the same... and the tartan navigator on Linda Clifford's web site shows the photo and label below... I think I've seen it listed as Scotland's National and Scottish National. The Tartan Finder shows 2154 as a different tartan as you stated. My tartan shop shows it as the Scottish National Tartan as well. Someone has to be wrong and ............ well I really don't mind it either way. I like it and most call it the Scottish National Tartan. Even the web site of Kilt Rental.com shows it as Scottish National. So if I go by the preponderance of the evidence, it becomes/remains/is the Scottish National Tartan... at least for now.

And while I'm no tartan expert (I just know what I like), but these all seem to match. But thanks for the info.

I guess it doesn't make any difference...I just got my information from The Scottish Tartan Authority, back when I was trying to decide on my first kilt.
I got my kilt from Scotweb...which also calls it Scotland's National, and also recognizes a separate Scottish National.
[sigh] Go figure

Re-reading this, I am worried that it might come of a little snarky. I didn't intend it that way.
What I should have said was "It's no big deal...call it what you want."
I like the tartan myownself. And, in point of fact, I would almost rather call it the "Scottish National" myself--it rolls off the tongue so much more easily than "Scotland's National."

It didn't come off as snarky to me. Okay in looking further I find:
Scottish National Universal Tartan WR2154 From Tartans of Scotland

WR2154 - Designed originally for the Scottish National Party but now manufactured and sold without the political association. There is some similarity in the proportions of the sett to the National Tartan produced by the Scottish Woollen Manufacturers Association in 1934. The tartan has been recorded by the Scottish Tartans Society.
The source of tartan 2154 was: Dgn. Michael Lewis King
The difference is one has black where the other has blue. Maybe just a variation??
