Hey, two posts back by Arlen.....that's my guys and I'm in the center. That was at a gravesite ceremony near Brandywine, PA. There is a soldier buried there of the 71st, Fraser's Highlanders. We were there to honour the dead. Malcolm

ARLEN, Regency Period Dress ith:
NOTE, I make NO pretense on being an authority on this subject BUT I do wear Regency period "outfits" quite often (Military & civilian.)
1. Civilian
A. Historical presentations ( HBC upper grade employee ( same attire as an upper middle class businessman would wear "back east ) & yes I OFTEN wear this attire KILTED. ( FT. Nisqually, Ft. Langley etc.)
B. A "Formal" "regency affair" 2 years ago (yes I was Kilted. but sadly I have no pix)
C. Military 1812 ( Can. Militia Rifles officer ) Trews & kilts
Here are pix of the "Military" look.
Top, Left to right.
1. 95th Rifle's Officer jacket
2. " " worn by a close friend ( note the officer's
being worn = designating "Scots Heritage
3. " OR "
Bottom, Left to Right
1. Can. Rifle (volunteers) used by a friend in Can ( Ft. Langley ) BTW, he
often wears His Seaforth (CAn.) Jacket)
2. My Can. Rifle Militia Jacket. Copied from a portrait of a "relative', 1812)
Worn both with Trews & Kilts.
???? WHY are you thinking "MILITARY"???
Here are a couple of my thoughts.
1. Military Jackets are GREAT. BUT
A. $$$$
B. Limited to "Re enacting" or part of Historical Presentations ( you will also need civilian attire if this for the PNW, as I do)
2. Civilian Attire, IMHO would be more VERSATILE & poss. less $$$$ You can also wear it for "modern Dress.
Here are "some" The middle one is one that hopefully will be made for me this summer ( if $$$ is avail )

3. My "advise" is to get a Montrose, Sheriffmur, The Jacket I wore to the above (Regency Event ) was borrowed from a friend. Although I was "out shined" by many there, (think $$$$ on outfits) I "held my own ( I was the Only Kilted Gent)
A. According to my Info. these Jacket styles date from this era.
B The jacket had the "Buttons changed out)
C. I wore a "period" neck Cloth ( a Jabot, IMHO was not "proper" )

There is a "regency style" tux coat on www.myowntuxedo.com for about 40 dollars. You could just add to it and it would be perfect.
