How does someone become a clan chief?

I would suspect that is a large part of the reason for passing the title along the blood line; cuts down on some of that kind of fighting and politics... Although, there are probably other reasons.

i still say the lord lyon should grant clan cheiftan ship to the armigerous clans ... we have the genealogical records to do so .. and other than that anyone want to nominate me for buchanan...
