You all are the best thanks for letting me complain and for helping me feel better.

I truly am thankful that he still has a job. I guess I also get so mad at myself for being so careless with money when there is plenty of it. I wish I had saved more etc. Human nature I guess. So I'm not as upset about the things we will have to give up as I am about the money we could have saved had we been more frugal to begin with.

Its times like this, you learn to appreciate the simple things in life... and when you get back ahead, you learn to put a bit aside, and save it for times like this... Its said.. God never puts a thing before us, we cannot handle.. its how we choose to handle it, is what makes or breaks us...
You will be stronger because of this, and even though its a bit inconvenient, you are much better off than others...
I remember when I first moved to the Navajo Indian reservation and I visited my wifes family members... people who cooked on wood burning stoves, they hauled their own water.. and used an outhouse privvy. I first thought, wow, they have life hard... then I soon learned.. that these people were very rich... rich in life with love and having what they truely need.. without the distractions of the techno world so many come to rely on... Life is what you make it.. and as the old addage goes... what doesn't kill you... makes you stronger..
Appreciate times like this.. you learn what you are really made of.. walk proud, Ali, and keep smiling that beautiful smile... your good heart.. will always prevail...

Money is only "Fun Tickets". You are young and you still have time to sock some away. Just don't wait too long.

To which I would say, "It's OK to be mad at yourself. It's also OK to forgive yourself."

Not as much as you think. My parents were both born in the 'Teens. They lived through a lot of very bad times, as did many of their friends. They all told stories about getting that "wake-up call" just like yours.

What I remember is that they learned fast. They always saved a little, no matter how little they made. They made their own fun: reading circles, fraternal organizations, community activities, church, school, dances, whatever came around -- even just sitting in the back yard of an evening with a few friends drinking beer or iced tea and telling stories.

My childhood was not prosperous but it wasn't poor, and I had those lessons in the background to fall back on when I hit my own hard times.

Build a support network, if you haven't. I think we'll all get through this if we all stick together.

And for the immediate pain, fear and worry: my sympathies go out to you and your family. Be of good heart, and have hope.

Ali, you will make it. You will come out the other end of this trial and you will be better or worse for it, it will not leave you as it found you. Having read some of your posts I think you will come out of it a better person.

Stay positive, that is a huge thing. I admire your resolve to help this shape who you are and who your children will be.

May God Bless you as you move forward.

Ali, I know I'm a little late on this, but know you are not alone. My wife was just forced to part-time which equaled a 50% pay-cut. This was pretty huge since she brought home the larger paycheck. We are on our 2 month of this and have pretty much cut-cack everywhere we can and are just scraping by. It'll get better, always does. While not enjoyable, it's amazing what kind you can do without when you have too.
