Reflections on my first week wearing a kilt
Okay -- I just have to get this out and share the joy! Let this thread act as a note of encouragement to any guy who is teetering on the edge of buying a kilt.
I've read thorough the thread about family objections to wearing a kilt, etc. Well, I gotta tell you, I have total support and encouragement from my wife and her family.
My first kilt was effectively a birthday present partially funded by a gift from my wife's parents. Last night we told them what I bought and they though it was great. So does my wife's sister!
We gone out grocery shopping with me kilted and the overall reaction from the public at large has largely been one of, well, lets say there has been not much of reaction. No "look - a guy in skirt" or "mommy, why is that man wearing a skirt".
Actually, lets see, I got a nod of approval from a little old lady, maybe two double takes from some guys, and one somewhat curious kid who seemed intrigued. But all in all, nothing hostile.
As to how it feels, well, give me my kilt on these hot days we've been having. The air conditioning feels superb!
Finally, I owe all this happiness to my soulmate, the woman of my dreams, my wife, who suggested that I might like it after she saw a guy in a kilt with his girlfriend/ wife shopping at the grocery store where she works. Just one more reason why I love my wife!

Yep!! That's why I have been kilted for two years. Congratulations on your first milestone.

Congratulations!
I wear a kilt on every day that ends in a "y". Ever since my mother in law spoke very highly about my kilt, I have all the support and more to be kilted at all times. My sister visited last week, after nearly three years, and really warmed to being escorted around town by the guy in the kilt. Having not had time to plan, we had expected to wait in line for a while at a very popular steak house. The maitre d' was taking names and numbers as we approached. He looked up and all I said is "two please, MacNeil" (my tartan). He immediately escorted us to a table with a great view and a great wait person. (The power of the kilt). She told me not to pack any trousers when I go to visit her in the spring.
It only gets better as you become comfortable with the kilt as it is your regular clothing.
