    Question New Album Announcements

So, being new to XMTS, what's the paradigm here with new album announcements? More specifically, announcing that you've got a new album you're releasing &/or albums you've already released but XMTS-folk may not be familiar with/aware of?

I think you've just covered it. If anyone is interested in purchasing, they can send you a PM. A further post of what music type/genre would be helpful.

    Cool Of course

    Pipes!ith:

Okay, a little more serious than that...
I have a number of projects in the works -- or in the terms of my Project Management class, I have a "portfolio" of projects.
I'm rather amused to say that while working toward my first Highland pipe album, I've started/finished other albums along the way (so what's 'the first'?). None the less, this album will come out and I already have concepts for another dozen or so to follow.

I have begun an interim project to my first Highland pipe album using smallpipes. This album is intended to have a contemporary-traditional sound featuring such accompaniment as acoustic guitar, bodhrán, d'jembe, and other instruments yet to be decided. Once complete and released, it is my intention -- in the flavour of Martyn Bennett (RIP) and Mark Saul -- to work with various DJ-types to re-mix the album into a traditional-techno/electronica modern piece (for the kids & kids-at-heart ... well, really just for anyone who likes it).

This past Memorial Day weekend my Celtic-fusion band, Nae Regrets, consisting of Highland bagpipes/Highland snare/drum kit/hand percussion, released our first EP, entitled Ceòl gu Brath (Music Forever). While at Northwest Folklife 2009 -- as I understand the largest folk-festival in the US -- I captured a few hours of our playing. I have begun work to select material from these recordings at Folklife to make a 'live' album that should be about 45 to 60 minutes long, currently slated to be released early December of this year -- so you can play it loudly for Hogmanay, improperly at Burns suppers, on your way to Gung Haggis Fat Choy, on your way home from Gung Haggis Fat Choy, St. Patrick's Day, National Tartan Day, kilted walks, going to Highland games, while at Highland games, driving home bug-bitten and sun-burnt from Highland games, on your way to NWFolklife to get it John MacHanjocked by yours-truly, and really pretty much any time that you feel you need to rock-it Nae Regrets style. Speaking of my Project Management class, I'm using completing this album for credit -- so my aim is to have it done with the end of FallQtr.
    • Limited copies of Ceòl gu Brath EP by Nae Regrets are available now; at or before NWFolklife'10 this will be re-released with additional tracks as Ceòl gu Brath LP.
    • Nae Regrets "Alive at Northwest Folklife 2009" (working & likely title) is slated to be released early-December 2009.

Look for Nae Regrets on Facebook and MySpace (old demos on MySpace to be replaced ASAP).
