Hmmm, I was up over 60 kilts for a while, but outgrew many and sold them to guys they fit so they wouldn't just be hanging in a closet. Kilts NEED to be worn somewhere.
I'm down to 30+ now. I like having a CHOICE of what to wear - color, fabric, weight.
Also like to honor clans, military, fire, that have meaning for me.
I'm 65 years old, live alone now, finances are stable. I can afford them - why not?
I also seem to have an addiction to other types of clothing...11 pair of Z Coils, once had nearly 50 aloha shirts, have a couple dozen hoodies, probably a hundred printed t-shirts, a dozen jean jackets, a couple dozen jackets and greatcoats...bazillions of colors of kilt hose... a dozen sporrans...couple dozen vests....
I happen to enjoy dressing in different garments from day-to-day. When I see something I like, and can afford, I'm liable to buy it. Addiction or just fun?
Hopefully the later...but if it is truely an addiction its a fun addiction...

It is so restful to read about men who have so many clothes.
That peaceful easy feeling when you just know that when you spend 50 pounds on a pair of shoes because they go with a belt which is essential for a particular kilt, there are people who think - it is to go with a kilt - how can that be wrong?
Now if I need more kilts I just sew some, as I have accumulated quite a bit of fabric suitable for kilts. I also have kilts which require adjustments which could be done fairly fast and kilts which just need a bit more sewing to be wearable, so as the seasons change I put away some kilts and sort out others - though the idea of a waterproof kilt and plaid is beginning to look sensible.
It is raining again. It is raining very hard - again.
I usually have six or seven kilts which are ready to wear, one I am wearing and one or two requiring pressing, so 8 to 10 kilts are 'in wear' at any particular time, though if I had a few weeks I could possibly double that number on the rails - I have 2 of 8 ft long clothes rails, one for ironed clothes ready to wear and one for airing garments. Kilts are hung on one hanger on the former and three on the latter.

You make me feel so impoverished; good thing I have some nice stuff coming in.
