Richard, here's the scoop on our tartan:

"Tartan of The Greater Victoria Police Pipe Band

Instead of adopting an existing tartan the executive decided to create its own history by designing a tartan of its own. The tartan’s blue and red is representative of the police organizations in the Greater Victoria area. The white stripe is significant in that it denotes Queen Victoria’s colonial police force. The colonial police predated any other police organization on Vancouver Island."

Our stock of tartan is kept by Burnetts & Struth, who make up our kilts, plaids, etc. No fear of us going to the World's, though! We do have a cadre of players who went to the World's in the 1980's (IIRC) with the City of Victoria Pipe Band, which did very well. Then there are players like me.

Thanks for some great pics, David. But the one I liked best was the one of you with the nutcracker behind you! (Nice kilt, by the way.)
    Regards,

Great Pics! I hear the Can Scots are getting a new Pipe Major? It's nice to see some shots of the Police band. It's been a few years now that I've been back home, Toronto doesn't have as close a community as Victoria does. (homesick)

That's news to me, Andrew. Roger was leading things at the Burns Night. Maybe I'll hear something at band practice tonight.

I heard he was stepping down but staying in the band. I overheard it at band practice. Apparently the guy that they were looking at as a hopeful person to take over as PM of our band, The Toronto Scottish Regiment is apparently taking the position out there. How are things with The Victoria Police Band?? Will you guys be playing at the Victoria Highland Games this year?? I'm trying to get myself out there for it this year. Take the kids to see the family and do a couple of solo comps while I'm out there.
