Black Stewart Tartan, Brown Belt & Sporran

    Greetings, you kilted ones!

Does anyone have an opinion on the topic? I already have all the black accents, but think brown would be a more casual look but am unsure if the brown accents would "go" with that particular tartan.

    Any opinions would be welcomed.

    Regards,
    Jeff

I have only two day sporrans. They are both brown. I wear them with all my kilts. My kilt belt is brown, when I wear it. Shoes are always black. No problem here...

I wear a sporran made of a combination of black and brown leather with my Stewart Black kilt. I think if I were to wear a totally brown sporran and belt with that tartan, I would wear brown shoes as well.

The thing is, nobody really worries about things like this, and you shouldn't either. Now if you had been asking about white socks.... (search "Boston Corbet" for more on that subject...)

Oh, I have white socks...or should I say "ecru"? I really don't know what I was thinking, other than I'm a total newbie and didn't know any better. Needless to say, I just purchased a pair of navy hose and a pair of bottle green. That should really dandy me up! I'll post when it all arrives.

I alternate between wearing brown leather and black with my kilts. And, I have two shades of brown to top that. I gotta have variety. And, I fear not to wear the light brown (tobacco) with a dark kilt.

    Greetings,

I have worn the Black Stewart tartan for 20+ years. I am disappointed with the overall look every time I pair it with brown accessories, so I stick with black for both day & evening wear (I prefer the dark look anyhow) I am considering a kilt in Hunting Stewart for daywear. I often see this tartan paired with brown accessories, and it looks good. Also, I steer away from the off-white hose with the Black Stewart tartan. I like the look of white hose (when piping), black, & lovat blue. Like many consistently say in these forums, wear what you are comfortable in!

Don't own Black stewart but do have several black or dark grey based tartans and all look fine with either brown or black leathers in the appropriate settings.

I think brown accessories will look just fine. Nothing to worry about. And I say go ahead and wear them with your "ecru" hose too Seriously, brown looks good.
