String Cheese is a good band too!
I guess I should tell my story now. You would think the admin would have by now.
I am 25 years old. When I was in second grade I remember watching a film in school about the Edinburgh Tattoo. I saw the guys in the pipe band and something welled up inside of me. I went straight home that day and ran up to my moms closet. I knew she kept a trunk for of fabric there b/c she used to custom make clothes. I found some plaid fabric and wrapped it around my waist and ran downstairs to show my mom. Tears welled up in her eyes b/c she knew I had the passion for my Scottish heritage and wasnt even old enough to understand it.
So thats how it started. I was into my heritage. I kept up with all things Scottish through out the years but at the time, as many have stated, kilts were so exppensive.
When I was in college we had an event called Funk Formal. I said that I wanted to wear a kilt but I had no way to buy one. I went to Wal-Mart and found some fabric and came home to try and make one. It was a disaster and I threw it out. I figured I would rather go in pants than a messed up kilt.
I swore though that at my next formal event I would have a kilt. It just so happened that the girl I took to the Funk Formal was the girl I asked to marry me the next year. I went straight to Everything Scottish in Linville NC and got measured. 6 weeks later my Hannay Trad arrived!
I got married in June of that year.
