Obviously I must have a thicker skin (and have been on FAR more flamey forums than this, this is positively genteel) because apart from one obviously tongue in cheek comment I couldn't see a problem with the thread.

My dad is a vegetarian and I have vegan friends (and specific dietary conditions myself, so I get all the 'fussy eater' BS, maybe if I had a name for it they'd leave me alone too!) they are used to questioning and a certain amount of banter, it comes with the territory...and I too was a little ??? over wool and veganism so found the thread interesting for that reason alone.

Problem is of being scared of causing any offence is you can stop instructive threads that have real political/social/cultural import before they start...although quite right to remind people that bashing someone cos of X or Y is bad. But if someone say queries my sexuality or my politics (both contentious in some people's minds) I'd rather have the open forum to say and defend myself and engage the person rather than have it shut down - because what people say in the heat of the moment or as a joke is usually far more telling of their true beliefs than people watching their language.

I guess this might be a cultural difference between those who are used to the rough and tumble of forums and those who aren't?
