There has been some confusion about this religious aspect in the media, as I understand it the King or Queen will still have to be in full communion with the Church of England, and will still have to swear to uphold the Presbyterian government of the Church of Scotland. The only change (in religious terms) is that they will be able to marry a Roman Catholic.
I am (within the context of my British citizenship) a Constitutional Monarchist (and still a communicant member of the Church of Scotland, even though I now worship with my local Congregational Church in Massachusetts). I must say that hitherto I didn't regard these proposed changes as a major priority, but I am nevertheless relaxed about them. I know the sun will still rise in the morning and life will continue on as before. I doubt it will affect anything regarding the future of the House of Windsor for at least fifty years, and then it will be accepted as the natural order of things.
